Your credit score is really important when you consider obtaining new loans, credit cards or even a mortgage. If your credit score is low, banks and leaders will be unlikely to allow you to get your hand on any form of credit. Furthermore, bad credit events will stay on your credit report for many years.

Your credit score starts building up as soon as you lay your hand on your first form of credit. It could be your first credit card, your fist student loan or your first car.

Every time you apply for a form of credit, the lending company will request a copy of your credit report from a credit bureau. The credit report will be examined for a) your credit score and b) any blemish in the past years. Once the lending company approves your application your credit score will then influence the interest rate you will be given on the credit.

Fixing your credit score

As mentioned, with a poor credit score it can be difficult to obtain loans, credit cards and mortgage. Your credit score is something that varies throughout the years and is influence by many factors so it’s possible to repair it by behaving intelligently with your credit.

Pay on time

Always make your payments on time; it’s probably the most important factor in a poor credit rating. If you are prone to forget your payment set yourself a direct debit with your bank or an automatic payment plan.

Pay in full

Always try to pay the full balance on your credit cards every month, when this is not an option make sure that you at least pay the monthly minimum.

Don’t get too many credit cards.

Keep your credit cards number low; someone with a lot of available credit is not as trustworthy for a lender as someone with little available credit.

Enough is good too

Make sure that you have more than enough credit if an unplanned event demands a big sum. You don’t want to max out any of your available credit source as it can damage your credit score if they stay maxed out for a long period.

Read your credit report

Buy your credit report at least once a year, there are many credit-reporting companies and they offer cheap credit report. Get yours, sit down and read carefully through it. It will help you understand what lenders can see and identify what you are doing wrong.

Space out your credit request

Do not apply for a credit card, a loan and a department store credit card in a short time. Each request for credit will be listed on your credit report and will look bad to anyone looking at it. Compulsive shoppers tend to do just that, apply for lots of credits and sometimes have problem paying them back.

One of the many benefits RBC offers their Visa credit card holders is a way to pay their bills online. Customers can save time by not having to write checks each month with the RBC Visa Card Payment Online service.

RBC’s Online Banking System has many benefits for the customer. They can add new bills and delete old bills when necessary. They can pay almost all of their bills from their home over the Internet from their RBC account. Environmentally concerned customers can choose a paperless option and have all their bills delivered to them over the Internet. Visa holders can transfer funds from one account to another account taking them only a few seconds. And, they can set up re-occurring payment dates for bills they pay on a monthly basis.

Before a user can pay their bills online, they must first enroll in the Online Self Enrollment Service and register from there. If the user is a registered RBC credit card online payment service user, there is no need for them to register. Instead, they can login to the Online Banking Service, and from there, use the Self Service option and click the Enroll in Bill Pay link.

After a user has registered, they can pay their bills by choosing either the Transfer Funds option, or the Pay Bills function. To create their list of bills to pay each month, they need to select the Create/Update Payee option, then, Add a New Payee. For users convenience, RBC has added a database of available companies they can choose from, or, they can type in the payee name their self. After they have added a new payee, they should add the payee’s account number, then save.

If a customer wants to pay their monthly Visa card bill, they will need to enter their Visa credit card number, and, add their account number to the list of payees. When doing this, they should have their most recent RBC Visa Card statement handy, and, if they have a mortgage with RBC Bank, they should have that information on hand when they register also. RBC will present them with three options for paying their Visa statements. They can pay off their entire balance from their monthly statement, they can pay the minimum required payment, or, they can pay any other amount they are capable of at that time.

RBC credit cards suit a wide variety of Canadians needs. They base a customer’s eligibility for credit on their past credit history, income, and current financial circumstances. The RBC customer can also select a credit card based on their particular needs, or from the promotional packages RBC is currently offering.

As a consumer, it is important to be safe when using any credit card or when using the RBC Credit Card Payment Online Service. Each month, a consumer should check their monthly statement to verify that all the transactions have been authorized by them.

As the necessities of life are getting dearer, an increasingly large number of Canadians are resorting to credit cards for their daily needs. With the ensnaring impact of the recession, not many people are having enough cash with which they can make ends meet and are therefore turning to their plastics. The Canadians are recently paying their rent, utility bills and food costs with the help of their credit cards. Though they’re getting an immediate relief, they’re gradually being caught in the vicious trap of consumer credit card debt. Even worse, if Canadians are even late with their payments by a day, they’re subject to an outrageously higher interest rate. It is not that the credit card debt cannot be dealt with as there are credit card debt consolidation options that can be resorted to by the debtor, but it’s always better to stay safe than sorry.

Some shocking credit card debt statistics show that the number of Canadians with bills more than 90 days due have increased by 55% from September, 2009 to September, 2010. Among all the major cities in the country, Toronto is seen to have the highest delinquency rate at 3.24% in the month of October, 2010. The Canadians have charged an average of $287 billion on their multiple credit cards and as per the Retail Council of Canada, an amount of $4.5 billion in a year is required as merchant fees to run this entire system. The Equifax, Canada says that the total credit card debt level in Canada has hit an eye-popping $80 billion in September, 2010, up from $77 billion during the same time in 2009.

How to tackle debt in Canada – Knowing your options

Though the financial meltdown has affected all sections of the world, the Canadians seem to pile on debt just as they used to previously. The Great Recession may not have a tough impact on the Canadians, as they may have on the Americans, but still everyone should take the certain steps that can eliminate their debt burden.

Create a monetary plan: Irrespective of the place you live in, everyone needs to create a monetary plan and follow it in order to let go of their high interest debts. Without a plan, no one can work towards his goal and therefore you too should have a budget that can assist you in tracking your income, expenses and monitor your savings.

Put your credit cards on hold: One of the best steps that you can take on your own to let go of your credit card debt is by putting your credit cards on hold. Restrict the usage of the credit cards so that you can stop yourself from accumulating further debt. Use cash instead of credit so that you can at least stop shopping when you exhaust cash.

Pay off high interest debt first: Debt avalanche method is a wise way of dealing with your credit card debt. Pick out the account with the highest interest rate and direct all your financial sources towards clearing off that debt amount while making the minimum monthly payments on your other cards. After you clear off that debt, pick the one with the second-highest rate and follow the same method.

As Canada is gradually turning into a cashless society, Ottawa is closely scrutinizing the credit card industry in order to protect the consumers. Even after following the above mentioned steps, if you cannot control your debts, you must opt for credit card debt consolidation options to eliminate your high interest debts.

Your credit score is extremely important when it comes to obtaining a new home or car. Although there are dozens of items attached to your credit report, the use of a credit card is generally tied to it more so than others. This is because it is credit you use and renew each and every month. With this in mind, it is incredibly valuable for you to appropriately manage your credit cards. If you don’t, you not only going to find yourself in increasing debt, but your credit score is going to drop significantly. A low credit score shoots up interest rates you must pay on a new car or house, or if the score is significantly bad, you may not qualify for a loan at all. Thankfully, there are several methods available for you to appropriate manage your credit cards.

When you are looking for possible credit cards, check out those with the lowest interest rate. Make sure to read the fine print also, as some credit cards start off with a low interest rate, then jump up after a few months. Some credit cards have an interest rate of 25 percent or more. If, for a particular reason, you find you are unable to pay off the specific credit card in its entirety during the month, you are charged the interest rate. If this continues, you are going to end up paying more on interest than you did for the actual purchase. If you are comfortable with paying off the balance every month in full, you can try out charge cards. These cards don’t have an interest rate, but you must pay off the total each and every month. If you don’t, you are issued a significant fee. American Express is the most known charge card, as both Visa and MasterCard are actual credit cards.

As stated above, pay off the entire balance, if at all possible, at the end of the month. You are never going to pay an interest fee with this method, so even if the card caries a rather high interest rate, you never need to worry about paying it.

Pay the credit card on time. This is a fast way to not only hurt your credit score, but increase the actual interest rate. If you are significantly late with a payment, the credit company may report it to a creditor. Once this occurs your credit rate is going to take a hit. The severity of the hit varies, but no hit is ever good when it comes to your credit. The credit card company is also going to raise your interest rate. To find out exactly how much the rate hikes up, read through the fine print in your credit card agreement statement. In this writing it states how much of an increase the rate jumps after a late or delinquent payment.

Purchase only what you are able to afford. This seems like common sense, but when you don’t see the actual numbers in front of you, or physically give cash, it is hard to tell just how much you are spending. It is a form of out of sight, out of mind. Then, at the end of the month, you are taken back by just how much your credit card statement is. If you are unable to accurately monitor your spending on its own, it is wise to write down the total cost of every purchase in a booklet. This way you know just how much you are spending.

Credit cards are useful in many types of situations that every individual may find themselves in. A CIBC card Canada credit card can serve as a great tool when one goes out of town or as well as in making purchases on a daily basis.

No matter what you need the money for, the CIBC credit card will not disappoint. It can be used to purchase a range of items from booking flights and trips online to buying a new purse. Although the CIBC card has much to brag about, a lot can also be said about its online payment method service.

If you already have a CIBC credit card then you have the luxury of making quick and easy payments online through the investing service on the website. However, before you can start using this method to make payments you are required to register for this type of banking service. Need help getting through this process? The steps are quite easy, and will be discussed now.

To start, please visit http://www.cibc.com/ca/personal.html. Next, look for the area that indicates to sign on to the online banking and investing website. Once you have done so, you should see a link that allows you to register, click it. Now you must type in your CIBC card number as well as the password you use when using telephone banking methods. If you have not used this method before and do not have a password, no problem. Simply find the toll-free number for these services and get one.

After putting in this information, you will then be asked to make up and enter a permanent password which you will use to log on every time. A series of security questions and answers will also need to be handled in order to protect your identity and fraud.

<script type="text/javascript"

Once all of the essential first steps have been completed, you will then find it second nature to log on and pay your bills every month in no time. All you need to do is click the sign in button and enter your password and card number. Next, you will be directed to your online account where you will find the pay bills link, click on it.

After doing so, in order to get started you must first register the payee on the website. To do so, click on the link that says to register your bills. You can then begin to add or edit billers as you see fit. Once you have made all of the necessary changes, click continue to proceed with the process. You can then use the handy search tool to enter the name of the company which you would like to make a payment to. The computer will display the matches to your search and then you can select which option you are going to utilize. All in all, th CIBC Canada credit card payment online is a great and quick way to pay your bills. Once you get the hang of it, you are able to pay multiple bills within a few clicks of the mouse.

For consumers with the ICICI Canada Credit Card the online credit card payment system is one of the great features you will be able to have with the card. It is convenient, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is simple to use, no matter how technologically advanced (or not advanced), you may be. Consumers can view their ICICI Canada Credit Card’s transaction history, view details of their account (including credit amount, recent purchases, and past use history), and view their account balance all in one easy to navigate, and user friendly layout, which all consumers will love to use.

Owners of the ICICI Canada Credit Card can also easily download their statement while logged into their account overview, as far as 12 months back, in order to review a paper copy if this is a preferred method for them. The system allows for users to review their statements in a variety of formats including: word, excel, access, and in pdf format as well; or, you can remain on the statement view page to read your statement right online.

The ICICI Canada Credit Card payment system allows for users to take all financial information, and import it into Microsoft Money; account holders can also take money from their checking or savings accounts, and transfer funds from one brand of the ICICI Bank to others in the same institution, with the click of a button. There is no need to leave the home and go to the bank, the features and capabilities are endless for online account holders to make unlimited transfers on their accounts.

The ICICI Canada Credit Card’s online banking system allows for quick and easy online payments to credit cards as well. Not only do account holders get all these great online options, from money transfers, viewing credit history, and using outside programs to manage their finances, but, best of all, these features cost nothing to consumers who have an ICICI account online. However, consumers must check if there are service charges on certain transactions using the online site; so, before making any transactions, make sure to read the service and use agreements (the fees will be based on the kind of account a consumer has with ICICI bank).

In order to enroll with ICICI Canada Credit Card online banking services, there are a few things that a consumer must do before getting started. First, to bank online, you are required to open and create an account with the bank. Users will obtain a 10 digit temporary reference number once the account is opened, in order to set up their online banking account. Next, users must make a personal check written out to themselves as an initial deposit into the account. Next, you will be given a customer identification number which will serve as a temporary account username. Once you log on with this temporary name, you can create your account. You will be asked to enter a new username, create a password, and enter certain personal data. Once this is complete, the possibilities are endless with great online banking and online payment transactions.

The Home Trust Canada credit card is specifically geared towards Canadian citizens, who are currently facing or have faced credit problems in the past. Home Trust is a subsidiary of the Home Capital Group, which is a federally regulated company. If you have suffered with credit problems, applying for this card is a great option. It is secured by Visa, and once individuals are approved, they can utilize the online payment system, and how to get the most out of its use. There are great benefits with the Home Trust card. If a consumer is capable of putting down a security deposit, they are eligible to apply and are approved for the card. The deposit can range from $1,000 upwards on to $10,000, and this will represent the consumer’s credit limit as well. Additionally, consumers can only spend up to the amount of collateral put down on the card.

There is a monthly fee for owners of the card of $7.50, and a $3.00 fee for a secondary holder; it also has a 2% interest on the security deposit put down. If consumers exceed the limit on the card there is a $29.00 charge tacked onto their bill, and interest rates on cash advances and purchases is 24.99%. There is also a minimum monthly payment if the card is used, of $10.00 or 3% of the total balance, the higher of the two.

Now, for consumers interested in using the online system for payment options, and to securely check their balances and payment history, signing up for online services is an easy process to do. Using the online system allows users the option of checking balances, scheduling payments, reviewing statements, and several other friendly features, all on a secured site. Consumers are also able to check the amount of credit they currently have, and are able to download their transaction history on their card use. The site also allows you to view your current statement, and past statements (up to a certain time back). Consumers can also ask for the option of receiving e-mail alerts on when payments are due, or if there is a change with their account. The online system is user friendly, and offers you a variety of features to easily manage the card from the comfort of your home.

To log onto the Visa Online service home page, you simply go to the Home Trust website, and there will be a link reading “Go to Visa Online.” You must first register an account (personal information, a bank account to make online payments, security questions to be answered, and other pieces of information might be required), which can be done on the Enroll here button which will walk you through the process. Once enrolled, you can now fully utilize the online service page, and properly monitor your account and make payments.

The Home Trust card is a way to help consumers rebuild credit, have a secure card, and have the benefits of extra funds when needed for a rainy day.
